Our Boho‑Luxe Weekend at Zorba Beach Houses: Beachfront Bliss in Tulum

Imagine waking up to the sound of waves…

Your feet touch cool tiles. Light pours through woven blinds. Outside, the sea sparkles and palm leaves sway.

That’s exactly how our days began at Zorba Beach Houses - a beachfront sanctuary tucked away at the quiet southern end of Tulum Beach.

This wasn’t just another hotel stay. It felt like a private retreat — luxurious but grounded, beautifully styled yet full of heart. It was the kind of place that invites you to slow down, unplug, and soak in the small things.

Here’s what made our Zorba experience so special.

Why We Chose Zorba Beach Houses

We weren’t looking for a big resort or all-inclusive escape. We wanted privacy, beachfront views, meaningful design, and something that still felt connected to the real Tulum.

Zorba ticked all those boxes - and more.

  • Boutique feel with only a handful of villas

  • Direct beach access (literally a few barefoot steps)

  • Beautiful, earthy architecture with natural materials

  • On-site taco + breakfast bar with local flair

  • Rooftop, hammocks, plunge pools - and peace

Private beach is cleaned everyday, filtered water is provided, and every design element feels thoughtful and intentional - aligning perfectly with our love for mindful travel.

First Impressions: Welcome to Paradise

The moment we arrived, we knew this place was different. The gated entrance opened into a lush, jungle-lined path that led straight to the sea.

We were welcomed with smiles and a quick tour. The vibe? Effortlessly relaxed. No front desk drama, no formalities. Just welcome home energy.

As we walked past the other villas and saw glimpses of that bright Caribbean blue, we had only one thought:

We’re not leaving this place unless we have to.

Inside Our Villa: Design, Comfort & Boho Details

We stayed in one of Zorba’s multi-level villas, and it was everything we love in a space - simple, warm, and full of light.

  • Earthy tones and natural textures

  • Huge open living area with kitchen

  • Cozy bedrooms with ocean breeze

  • Pool right outside our door

Every detail was curated - recycled glass lampshades, driftwood mirrors, clay cups for morning coffee, and giant doors that opened straight onto the sand.

It felt like staying in a perfectly styled beach home… without ever feeling pretentious.

Beach Days, Tacos & Sunset Walks

This is the kind of place where you build your rhythm around the sun and tide.

Mornings:

We’d watch the sunrise from our pool with coffee in hand. Then walk straight into the sea for a swim before breakfast.

Afternoons:

We’d grab tacos and margaritas from the on-site taco bar, read in the shade, or nap by the plunge pool. Zero stress. Just ocean breeze and sunscreen.

Evenings:

Sunset walks along the coast, followed by mezcal cocktails under the stars. Zorba’s stretch of beach is blissfully quiet - no DJs or party crowds here.

Exploring Tulum from Zorba

Even though we didn’t want to leave, Tulum’s magic was right outside.

We walked to nearby beach cafes and boutiques, explored Mayan ruins, and had dinner in town more than once.

Everything felt close - but not crowded. That’s the beauty of Zorba’s location. It’s far enough south to feel secluded, but still well connected.

Tip: Renting bikes or scooters makes exploring easy - and way more fun than driving.

Would We Come Back? Absolutely.

Zorba was one of those rare places where everything just worked - space, design, atmosphere, and location.

It felt luxurious, but in a laid-back, barefoot on the beach kind of way. The kind of place that doesn’t try too hard - because it doesn’t have to.

Whether you’re planning a romantic couple’s escape, a group getaway, or even a creative retreat - Zorba gives you the space and setting to truly unwind.

Best part?

You can go from sunrise swim to rooftop sunset… without ever putting on shoes.
